Fear of flying, spiders, dentists, needles, driving, dogs or claustrophobia?

Scared to do what you want to do?

Overcome your fear with hypnotherapy and change your life!

Why do you have a Phobia?

The majority of us are frightened of something, but we can generally manage the fear successfully by avoiding the thing that bothers us. You might be aware of how your phobias were created or have no awareness of how or why you first learned to fear a particular object or situation.

Some phobias begin with a single incident, usually as a child, but sometimes they develop over time as we respond to seeing a close family member with the same fear. The way the brain works gives us clues as to why phobias develop. Experiencing a strong negative emotion, in the presence of some object or creature, leads to an unconscious learning that this is dangerous and to be avoided in the future.

When faced with that object again, or even something that looks remotely like it, your brain will trigger the fear response to motivate you to get away from danger.  In the case of a phobia, your natural reactions are working perfectly normally but in response to the wrong triggers.

Can Hynotherapy for Phobias help you?

Working together, using a variety of Cognitive Hypnotherapy techniques I will aim to help you:

  • Reduce the effects of your fear or phobia, as well as remove the trigger that causes you such fear and anxiety, leaving you free to enjoy your life!
  • Help you prepare and rehearse for the next time you come into that situation or see that object.
  • Learn self help techniques that you can use yourself to reduce any anxiety allowing you to stay calm and in control.
  • Your sessions will last 60 – 90 minutes and you will receive hypnosis mp3s, including a personalised mp3 usually after the second session.

Don’t worry if you think your fear or phobia is silly – fear is not rational.  There is no need to let it carry on dictating your life. Your unconscious can be ‘reprogrammed’ so that you do not react in the same way.

And don’t worry you wont be completely without fear.   We all need a certain amount of fear in our life as it enables us to stay safe.  Being totally fearless while doing day to day activities such as driving could have serious consequences!

Some fears hypnotherapy has helped:

Some of the most common fears and phobias include heights, confined spaces, needles, public speaking, social phobia, fear of flying, and spiders but there are many many things that people develop phobias about.   Many people suffer from phobias and the list of things that trigger them is endless.

Social Phobia

If you have a fear of or discomfort with being around others this is often linked with low self-esteem and a lack of confidence. You may have an intense fear of being judged by others, difficulty in maintaining conversation and may suffer physical symptoms such as blushing, shaking or sweating. Building self-esteem whilst also learning to relax and to manage feelings of anxiety can help.

Fear of Flying – Aerophobia

You may know that flying is one of the safest modes of transport available but this makes no difference to you. Your fear is often driven by your imagination, and reinforced by avoiding flying altogether. Cognitive Hypnotherapy can help you in just a few sessions and make the holiday you dream of a possibility.

Fear of the Dentist – Dentalphobia

You may not have visited for years and you know it’s irrational. However, your emotional response is much more powerful than mere thought, and so we have to look at another way to get rid of the fear. Cognitive Hynotherapy is a great way of overcoming dental phobia permanently.

Fear of Enclosed Spaces – Claustrophobia

You may suffer fear or even panic as a result of being in a small space. Cognitive Hypnotherapy can be very effective in helping to overcome this problem permanently. Read Claustrophobia? Reopen the enclosed spaces.

Fear of Spiders – Arachnophobia

You fear may be triggered by the mere thought of a spider or even by a picture of one. Many people feel panic entering a situation where spiders may be present.  Cognitive  Hypnotherapy will help you address your fear and you may be surprised at your response next time you see one!

"I cannot emphasise enough how much you have helped me with my fear of being in the car as a passenger and driver.  You are so approachable and caring always keeping in touch.  I would have no hesitation recommending you highly."

"I came to see Jo to help with my Nipple Phobia. I was really keen to breastfeed my son and Jo helped me realise where this phobia had come from and changed my thought process around it, she also made an MP3 written specifically for me which I listened to at home. I am amazed that I can now exclusively breastfeed.”

"I was a bit apprehensive about whether cognitive hypnotherapy could help with my issue, but Jo really knows her stuff and everything she said made so much sense. Jo is really easy to talk to, which was really important to me. I felt totally comfortable with her, and will definitely be seeing her again next time I need a bit of help."
