Hypnosis for Insomnia is for you if you are suffering from sleep disturbances, sleep apnoea, snoring, sleep talking, sleep walking or nightmares.

Sleep is a basic need, 6-8 hours is the recommended amount that we need to perform properly. The loss of one night’s rest can take awhile to recover from, although we do eventually catch up. But, long term insomnia is just not as easy to recover from.

What is Insomnia?

There are many different signs of insomnia.  Are you suffering with difficulty getting to sleep? Trouble sleeping at all? Rising early in the morning? Waking up during sleep? Disturbed or stressed sleep? Finding daily function difficult because of tiredness? Suffering from changes in your mood? Being unable to concentrate in the day because of sleep deficiency?

There are in most cases very simple reasons for sleep disorders. The major cause is usually anxiety.  The key reason why it can affect you this way is because anxiety manifests itself both consciously and subconsciously.  There are two levels of your mind you are dealing with every time you try to go to sleep.  On a long term basis, anxiety can get to the deepest areas of your subconsious mind. You may begin getting anxiety attacks in the course of the night without understanding the trigger; however, what you are probably experiencing is just your mind absorbing the stresses around you at a subconscious level.

Becoming aware of this problem is not always helpful either. When we worry about it happening which feeds the situation and actually makes it worse. Without the ability to control these symptoms, you may become worried, exhausted and depressed.

Even though conscious mind clearing procedures can help, such as talking to a partner before going to sleep, you are still only focusing on the conscious aspect of the mind. This means that, the symptoms may continue regardless of your efforts as the your subconscious mind hasn’t been dealt with them.

Sleep Study

Sleep researchers  demonstrated that hypnosis can have a positive impact on the quality of sleep for some people.

To objectively measure sleep, electrical brain activity was recorded using an electroencephalogram (EEG). They were looking for slow-wave sleep patterns which are very difficult to control voluntarily.

70  women took part in the study. They came to the sleep laboratory for a 90-minute midday nap. Before falling asleep they listened to a special 13-minute slow-wave sleep hypnosis tape. They proved that suggestible women experienced 80 percent more slow-wave sleep after listening to the hypnosis tape compared with sleep after listening to a neutral text tape. In parallel, time spent awake was reduced by around one-third.
