COVID 19 - Due to limited availability I am currently unable to take on any new reflexology clients.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a safe and natural therapy.

It is a way of relaxing your mind and body, to help support your body's own healing, and improve or alleviate any stress or tension.

During your session, gentle pressure will be applied to areas on your feet. These areas are believed to correspond to different organs, parts and systems of the body.

The aim is to induce a state of deep relaxation. Most people find a treatment also aids sleep and relieves tension whilst giving a sense of balance and well-being, encouraging your body to heal itself.

What might reflexology help?

Reflexologists do not claim to cure or diagnose, however a treatment  may be helpful to support a wide range of issues including:

  • Stress related conditions
  • Back pain
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Headaches
  • Digestive disorders
  • Fertility issues
  • Skin disorders
  • Blood sugar disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Pregnancy and Postnatal

35% of work-related ill health in 2015 was thought to be stress induced. With stress playing a role in our busy lives both physically and emotionally, this can affect numerous systems in the body and its thought to be responsible for many illnesses.

Looking for ways of reducing stress is key to a healthy life and reflexology is one such way!

Reflexology is not a medical treatment and we can not be seen to diagnose medical conditions. It is a complementary treatments, and it should not be used as a replacement for requesting medical advice.

What is the Theory of Reflexology?

The overall principal is that energy runs up and down between all parts of your body. If your body is in a state of imbalance due to illness, injury or stress, your vital energy channels may become blocked and your body may not be in balance.  The theory is  that different points on the feet correspond with different areas of the body.

Reflexologists aim to open up the bodies energy pathways, boosting the immune system, clearing toxins, improving circulation and encouraging the release of endorphin’s. It encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance, facilitating healing and optimal health.

Whilst the origins date back to Ancient Egypt, modern reflexology was developed in the 1930’s by Eunice Ingham. She developed maps of the entire body on the feet. She observed that congestion or tension in the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body. The right foot corresponds to the right side of the body and the left foot corresponds to the left.

When shouldn’t you have Reflexology?

It is not advisable to have treatment if you have a high fever, an infectious disease, suffer from Deep Vein Thrombosis, or varicose veins around your feet. Please also let me know if you are pregnant. Any pregnancy complications should also be discussed with me prior to booking a treatment.

Please just let me know about any medical condition during our consultation so I can adapt your treatment if necessary.

Jo is gentle, understanding and very skilled, delivering first class treatment every time. She has changed my life.
